Johnny Carson Johnny Carson was born on October 23, 1925, in Corning, Iowa. He was raised in Norfolk, Nebraska and attended the University of Nebraska. The actor/ comic was the host of NBCs Tonight Show from 1962 to 1992 and, though he acquire the hosting duties of the program from Jack Parr, defined the render and became the icon for slow night television.
